Prayerby Sister Doretha Hall Abraham Lincoln stated, We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown, but we have forgotten God. Prayer is the most powerful weapon we possess. It requires faith, dedication, commitment, consecration, sincerity, devotion, worship, sacrifice, and listening for the voice of God, and yet it is as easy as talking to your best friend. In prayer we commune with the Lord Jesus and never have to worry about being misunderstood. Our time in prayer allows us to submit petitions to the Lord believing that He will answer. Philippians 4:6 states to Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. September 11th sparked a cry of prayers from people around the world. Some had forgotten the importance of prayer. When we cease to pray, catastrophes may occur to awake us from our slumber. How sad that it takes cataclysmic events to bring us to our knees. For it is on our knees that we find and submit to the will of God. The answer to our needs comes through the power of prayer. The scripture commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee (Psalms 122:6); to Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest (Matthew 9:38); and to Pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer is not a stranger to the members of Christ Memorial Temple. Focused prayer is made for the ministry and for our officials of city, state and country during our services. Special prayer days as well as prior to every service are offered. It is wonderful to hear the praise reports as a result of our prayers. |
