It has been said the Bible includes the word of God
when in truth it is the word of God. All we know of God, we will find
between its covers. The Bible is actually a compilation of 66 books covering
approximately 3720 years of man’s day upon the earth and was written
by 40 authors. Some of the authors were kings, wise men, prophets and
even outcasts. Yet what is amazing about the Bible is that with so many
authors and the elapsed time between Genesis and Revelations, there still
are no errors in the holy script. The true authorship of the Bible, however,
is understood from 2 Peter 1:21 which states, “For the prophecy came
not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they
were moved [inspired] by the Holy Ghost.” God himself is the true
author of His Word.
The Bible contains stories of men and women and their
encounters with the God of the universe. Whether intrigue, mystery, romance,
war, poetry, history or a human interest story, the Bible includes it
all. It tells of mankind’s spiritual journey, what is about to happen
upon this earth, the second coming of Jesus Christ and the end-time. It
tells of Heaven and Hell, how to reach one place and avoid the other.
But most importantly, it is God’s love letter to each of us and how
he paid the ultimate price for the full redemption of His creation –
you and me!

Studies in the convenience of your own home. Home Bible Studies are available
at no cost and at a time convenient for you. There is no pressure to join
a particular church or denomination, simply the opportunity to explore
God’s word together. Home Bible Studies can be a one-time meeting
or a series of meetings to cover as many topics as desired and can be
largely self directed towards one’s areas of interest.

Victorious Living in the Kingdom of God
A Foundational Bible Study for All Believers in Jesus Christ
Christ Memorial Temple is pleased to provide to all new converts the 17 lesson series, “Victorious Living in the Kingdom of God”. This exciting Bible study is designed to help establish new converts in the foundational truths and principle doctrines of the Bible – God’s Word. Classes are informal and taught by a variety of instructors from the church, allowing ample time for questions and interaction between new converts.
The new convert, “Victorious Living” series is offered at the church every Sunday morning from 9:15 to 9:45 am. Upon completion of the series each new convert will receive a certificate of achievement indicating they have completed the 17-lesson series. If you miss a class, you can make up the class by checking out a recorded version of the class (DVD, VHS, audio-CD or audio-tape).

"I
was raised in a denominational church in a semi-rural area of Missouri,
and when I was young attended faithfully (almost) every Sunday morning
with my family. The people were nice; however, at many times the worship
and the sermons lacked substance and nothing really ignited a 'spark'
that caused me to really get on fire and worship whole heartedly. In
some sense perhaps I had not attained a full appreciation for the presence
of God in my life because I had never truly been exposed to his full
power. As a result, when I graduated from high school and began attending
college across the state it was difficult for me to get motivated to
attend church on Sunday morning. During my undergraduate years I rarely
attended church except when I was home visiting my family.
A few
years later I found myself in graduate school in Indiana and I was invited
to the local United Pentecostal Church (UPC). I was not sure about it
at first but I thought highly of the person that invited me so I decided
to go ahead and give it a shot. What I found was a lot of very friendly
people -- and some doctrines that I did not really understand. I hadn't
ever really dug into the word of God much, but some of the things I
was hearing made me very uncomfortable because I knew that if they were
true then I was not where I needed to be with God. I actually battled
for awhile about whether this was the right place for me. Several times
I contemplated quiting and just going back to a church like the one
I was raised in; however, something inside kept drawing me to this church.
In the
fall of 1998 I was offered a home bible study by one of the members
of this local UPC church. As I mentioned previously I was raised in
a denominational church and most of the preaching we heard was about
God's grace and love, but we didn't here much about the things God wanted
us to do to be obedient unto him. This was perhaps not the most conventional
bible study my teacher had given because I asked a lot of questions
(well what if you interpret this scripture this way, and what if you
interpret this that way, etc). The first key point was when we got to
the part of the bible study on the necessity of baptism and the mode
which it must be applied. When I realized the truth that the bible revealed
about baptism, I knew that I must be re-baptized if I wanted to follow
the scriptural teachings. The next week I was baptized in the name of
Jesus Christ during a Tuesday evening service.
As we
continued through the bible study we studied other topics including
the necessity of receiving the Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit) and aspects
of Christian living including manifesting the fruits of the spirit.
It took
me a little while to overcome some things in my life; however, due to
the word of God which was sown in my heart during this bible study and
the hunger it created, I was able to press onward until one service,
in God's perfect timing, I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I
am now living a happy Christian life and a large portion of it is because
of the opportunity I had to study the word in a home bible study."
